"Late in the evening I suddenly had a strong craving for Indian food, so I asked two of my friends if they wanted to join me. After a quick Google search we found Shah’s Indian Pakistan Restaurant and decided to give it a try. We arrived around 10:30 pm at their San Mateo branch and were warmly greeted by the owner, Inder, who immediately made us feel welcome and suggested some dishes we might enjoy. I already had my mind set on what I wanted, which were Biryani Rice, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Garlic Naan. The food was absolutely phenomenal. The flavors were rich, authentic, and perfectly balanced. The Chicken Tikka Masala was incredibly savory and creamy, the Biryani was aromatic and satisfying, and the Garlic Naan was freshly made and paired perfectly with the dishes. Since it was our first time visiting, Inder kindly gave us a generous discount which made the experience even more memorable. Great hospitality and outstanding food. I also learned that they have two branches, one in Sunnyvale and one in San Mateo. We visited the San Mateo location and had a wonderful experience. If you are craving kabobs, curries, biryanis, or tandoori dishes, this place is highly recommended. Definitely a commendable restaurant and a great spot to enjoy authentic Indian and Pakistani cuisine"

"The Tandoori Chicken is fantastic. Good Tandoori is hard to find nowadays. We had the minced chicken kebab and chicken legs. Great flavor. Better then any place on the peninsula. They serve the chicken legs with lots of raw white onion like Shalimar in San Francisco. The price is very fair for their tandoori items. We also had the garlic naan and it was also some of the best naan we have had in a long time. GO TO THIS RESTAURANT!"

"Finally a great Indian restaurant in San Mateo! This was much needed and something a lot of us were waiting for! The food was excellent and so was the hospitality! Awesome tea and kababs! Chicken kadhai was superb! The chicken was so tender and moist! Cannot wait to try the other items in their menu!"

"I’m so excited to share that Shah has made it to San Mateo! this place has been a Sunnyvale institution for over a decade. When my family lived in Mountain View, it was our absolute go-to for Pakistani food. So you can imagine my reaction when I saw their storefront going up right here in San Mateo! 🙌🏾 They’re on El Camino, same block as Kaizen’s Coffee — you can’t miss it. Don’t let the no-frills vibe fool you — the food is incredible. Here’s what I’d order on your first visit: • Chicken tandoori — smoky, charred perfection • Chicken seekh kebab — juicy minced chicken on the skewer • Naan — soft, fluffy, straight from the tandoor • Yellow dal — simple, comforting, addictive • Palak paneer — rich, creamy spinach done right And there’s plenty more on the menu to explore beyond that. I believe tonight (Friday, Feb 27) is their soft opening. Go show them some San Mateo love and give Shah a shot — you won’t regret it! 🍢"
